Work About Contact
Paul Taylor

I design and ship products that people actually use—not things that look good in a pitch deck.

I grew up in the UK during what was probably the best time to be a kid who liked technology. I remember when video game controllers went from wired to infrared and it blew my mind. I went from recording songs off the radio onto cassettes, to minidiscs, to burning CDs, to an original iPod, and I was obsessed with every step of that evolution.

I studied electronics and design at school, then Business Information Technology at university, where human-computer interaction was the module that stuck with me most. Understanding how people think and interact with technology has shaped everything I’ve done since.

I worked as a product manager in London for a few years, spending my weekends shooting music festivals across the UK and Europe. When I turned 30 I bought a one-way ticket to Bangkok, travelled around Southeast Asia, and ended up in New Zealand for a year. Four months of that was in a people carrier with the seats pulled out and a mattress thrown in the back, sneaking into campsites for showers.

Eventually I landed in New York and started working as a photographer, shooting experiential marketing events for companies like Netflix, Amazon, and HBO.

Photography sharpened the creative side, product management taught me how to work with different people and understand that everyone operates differently. An eye for detail, a feel for how things should look, and the ability to get things done with a team.

Now I build products. I’ve led design on an AI meal planning app, shipped a sports trivia app solo to both app stores, and I’m building a Mac app that tags photos using local AI. Two on the App Store, a third in beta.

When I’m not designing I’m watching football (soccer), playing it, or shooting street photography.
